Twenty-seven cars involved in Saturday night crash outside Prague
More than two dozen vehicles crashed on the D10 motorway near Mlada Boleslav, just northeast of Prague on Saturday night. Luckily, only eight people sustained light injuries in the massive crash, Michael Georgiev, spokesman for the Liberec regional rescuers, told CTK.
The motorway was closed in both directions. The direction to Prague was reopened around 21:30, police spokeswoman Michaela Richterova said.
Central Bohemian firefighters spokeswoman Tereza Fliegerova told CTK that tires were burning under a bridge at the motorway and drivers could have suddenly lost orientation due to the dense smoke.
The police are still investigating the causes of the twenty-seven car pile up.
