At MindMaze, Escape is the name of the game!

At first glance, finding yourself locked in a prison cell in Prague might not sound like the best way to spend an evening, but escape room company Mind Maze has over 800 positive TripAdvisor reviews that say otherwise.

Mind Maze has two rooms currently in operation. Enigma – a WWII themed spy mission that features a military office and prison cell, and The Alchemist’s Chamber – an escape challenge based on sorcery and medieval intrigue.

The popular escape room company has been rated number one in Prague. It’s a fun friends activity or team building exercise with two teams in different rooms competing to escape first. Mind Maze is also a great family activity with children 15 years or older.

Mind Maze says that to their surprise, their escape room has become increasingly popular not just with tourists, but with locals as well. “The first year when we started, about 90% of our customers were tourists, and only 10% were Czechs. But more and more Czech people know about escape games, nowadays roughly 35% of our customers are local,” said Andras Gal, a Mind Maze employee.

Many first-time participants have different ideas of escape rooms; often picturing trivia based challenges or more physical challenges. Mind Maze focuses on the theme of the room and using logic puzzles and brainteasers. Participants become fully submerged in the theme experience, with rooms that are fully kitted out in period props and occasional sound effects to keep the anticipation building.

“It exceeded my expectations in their dedication to the theme. There was a plot line to motivate the escape, sound effects, and historically accurate paraphernalia around the room,” said Sucharita Murkujee, a CIEE study-abroad student who completed the Enigma room. “It gave the experience a really cool vibe.”

Murkujee and her teammates said it was tedious and exciting experience. With only a minute and 47 seconds to spare, her team managed to solve the room and make it out. Mind Maze say that only 50% of the teams finish the room before time is up. Gal says that more people find the Alchemist’s Chamber the more difficult of the two.

At only 1200kc for a group of 4-5 people,  Mind Maze is a great inexpensive and fun activity. The experience takes around an hour to an hour and half to get through.  Reservations are required by booking online at or by phone at +420 773 044 318

This looks fine. Someone may like the historic theme, anyway it’s fun for tourists to help them understand Prague’s history more and better. Someone may like the sci-fi or fantasy themes, as for me I’d prefer them more 🙂 One of the most memorable for me was thsi one –
