“No Pants Subway Ride” returns to Prague on January 12
The No Pants Subway ride returns to Prague on Sunday, January 12.
The light-hearted event consists of transit passengers traveling around the metro system wearing just their underwear (and acting as if nothing is wrong), for no discernible reason other than to make other people smile.
If you’re interested in being a “No Pants Passenger”, the group will meet at Václavské náměstí on Sunday, January 12th 2020 near the statue at the top of the square between 4.30 pm and 5 pm. Disrobing will take place a few minutes before 5 pm followed by the group heading into the metro at exactly 5pm (without pants of course).
“The idea behind No Pants is simple: Random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants behave as if they do not know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.”
The riders normally spend around an hour or so on the metro, just doing the loop between Muzuem, Mustek and Florenc before celebrating their “winning streak” with a beverage or two at a nearby pub.
The No Pants Subway Ride began as a prank in New York in 2002 by comedic group Improv Everywhere. By 2012 it has spread to hundreds of cities across the world.
