There were 260 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, but only 10 in Prague
On Saturday, 260 people with the coronavirus infection were diagnosed in the Czech Republic, the most substantial daily increase since April 8. There have been a million more infections worldwide in the last week.
– Since March, when the first cases of coronavirus infection appeared in the Czech Republic, 11,298 instances of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Czech Republic. There are currently 3270 patients. Already Friday’s increase of 168 infected people exceeded the daily increase in COVID-19 cases in more than two months. A total of 1,862 coronavirus tests were performed on Saturday, of which 260 were positive. The largest increase is related to the local outbreak in Karviná. The ratio of infected to the number tested increased from 3.88 percent to 13.96 percent. The results are from the data provided by the Ministry of Health.
– The increase in newly proven cases in recent days is most likely due to testing in local outbreaks. On Friday, for example, hygienists started another comprehensive testing of OKD mining company workers at the ČSM-Sever mine in Stonava in the Karviná region. There is also another local focus in the ČSM-Jih mine within the region. Comprehensive testing of mine workers and their relatives is to continue until Tuesday. In total, over 3,000 people are to be tested.
– Coronavirus has already been confirmed in more than ten million people worldwide. Referring to its statistics, Reuters reported. Johns Hopkins University, which monitors the spread of the disease, reports a total of 9.95 million positive SARS-CoV-2 findings in all states. More than 2.5 million infected people have the worst affected United States, about half less Brazil. The last million infected have risen again in less than a week.
